The Flint Six: Our City, Our Dreams is a heartfelt celebration of resilience, community, and the unstoppable spirit of Michigan’s children. Inspired by the real challenges and real hope found in the city, this beautifully written story follows six young dreamers who discover just how powerful they can be when they work together.
Jordan, Amaya, Madison, Yasmin, Sofia, and Amir don’t start out as heroes — just kids walking to school, imagining marshmallow clouds, and navigating everyday life in Flint, Michigan. But when they stumble upon a damaged community garden, something inside them shifts. With courage, creativity, kindness, and a few chaotic inventions, The Flint Six begins repairing what was broken.
Their efforts spark something bigger than they ever expected. Neighbors join in. Teens pick up brushes. Parents bring water. Toddlers cheer. The whole community steps forward — proving that Flint, Michigan shines brightest when its people come together.
But when vandalism threatens to undo their hard work, the Flint Six learn an even deeper lesson: hope isn’t fragile. It grows back stronger. And Flint, Michigan always rises.
Filled with humor, heart, teamwork, and unforgettable moments — from glitter explosions to “robot potatoes” to a citywide parade honoring its young helpers — this story shows children everywhere that their dreams matter, their voices matter, and their community becomes brighter because of them.
A moving tribute to Flint, Michigan’s resilience and the power of kids who care. Perfect for classrooms, families, counselors, and anyone who believes in the magic of community.
